Rolling Snowball - Quanzhou

The Rolling Snowball project started as an outstanding exhibition of contemporary art from all over the world, brought to the fishing village Djúpivogur, located on the east coast of Iceland, raising the cultural value of the whole East Iceland area and offering a valuable addition to art-lovers living in, or traveling through, Iceland´s country side. Due to the success of he Rolling snowball concept in Iceland we have made collaboration with the 优SHOW艺术空间in 泉州,China.

CEAC Chinese European art center in Xiamen has invited the artistic concept of Rolling Snowball to exhibit in Quanzhou. Giving the audience a window to the work of cultural exchange highly appreciated and promoted by the Scandinavian and Dutch governments and Fujian Province. The Rolling Snowball is curated by Chinese European Art center and 优SHOW天地乐团.

The participating artist are internationally acclaimed artist from China, Europe and the U.S. Many have a long history of cultural exchange and has shown in museums and galleries in China before.

The Rolling Snowball has been rolling in Djúpivogur four times and it is with great excitement that we release the snowball in Quanzhou, China. The exhibition series has by now received quite a recognition. Social media is interested in the project and publishes articles on the proceedings each year and the exhibition is advertised in endemic and regional papers as well as with posters and flyers in art venues/galleries and tourist information offices over the country.

Last year´s exhibition received the Cultural Award of the Association of Municipalities in East Iceland and was nominated for Eyrarrósin (an award granted each year to an outstanding cultural project in the Icelandic countryside).
